Ford's layoffs after $1 billion loss due to tariffs

LInk: http://fortune.com/2018/10/09/ford-stock-today-layoffs-trump-trade-tarif...

I've seen reports from both Fox and CNN saying that US economy is stronger and continues to get stronger but this is like the 3rd or 4th US-based company I've read about that encountering issues because of Trump's policies.

It makes me so sad hearing about the 24,000 employees who might lost their job early next year, but at the end of the day that's how business works. Atleast they will be given a separation pay. I hope.

I'm not huge Trump fan but I don't think this whole Ford situation has anything to do with him. If you do just a quick google research about Ford you'll find a lot of articles over last ten years warning this could happen. While Ford used to be amazing company, they did series of wrong decisions and they keep doing them. For Ford poor management is bigger problem than Trump's policies.

Also, there are many years that GM sells more Chevrolet Silverados and GMC, but even though they are the same in all but badging because they're sold under different marques they can't tout that fact in their advertising. This is actually worse since Trump directly caused this one.

That's why in choosing employer, I always consider the stability of the company and research on the management.  However, for those people who do not have a choice this is a serious matter.
