Gut bacteria are altering our brains

Link: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-43815370

Isn't this something we've always known though? I mean, that's why some diets are recommended as energy boosters and stuff. Although the part how it can cause depression is pretty interesting.

I watched an episode of a podcast with Dr. Rhonda Patrick and she mentioned that the gut can also be known as the 2nd brain as it deals with multiple neurological factors. Interesting stuff as I previously thought of my gut as simply a place where I store my food haha

That's fascinating. I need to read up on this.

Gut microbes are part of the unconscious system regulating behavior. I saw in recent investigations indicate that these microbes majorly impact on cognitive function and fundamental behavior patterns, such as social interaction and stress management.

It has been known in the past, but at a much simpler level. The gut is really an interesting system if you think about it.
