Rivalry between China and the U.S.



One of the things we can all agree when it comes to the US is that even in the best of times, they really weren't pushing for other countries to succeed or become superpowers like them. Given how China's economic boom though is partly due to their ability to skirt around things like intellectual property and labor laws, I'm not sure how long and sustainable their growth and influence will be.

I think this is heightened by the fact that a lot of the manufacturing jobs that the U.S. lost went to China. That and China is aggressively building "soft power."

More optimistically, Beijing might grant enough concessions to satisfy Trump and buy a few more years of relative harmony. But people make mistakes and do irrational things, so someone could miscalculate.
