What capitalism is doing to higher education

This is why we can't have nice things. We discover something that could've helped a lot of people who need it and we somehow let capitalism creep in and ruin it. Online courses could have levelled the playing field and provided better opportunities for people who cannot afford ivy league colleges but, thanks to capitalism, it's now been added to the list of things that fuel inequality.

When will we learn to leave alone something that is beneficial to people rather than dissecting it to find what we can get out of it, milking it dry, and stripping it of all the good things it was before?

This is a shame because this could've been a potential means to address the ever-growing problem of student debt. Online courses and trade schools could be good alternatives for students who just can't afford Ivy League schools.
