'Devilfish' podria ajudar a tractar les aigües residuals de la ceràmica
Descripció de l'enllaç
The "Devilfish" catfish, native to South America but now found on four other continents, is a freshwater invader that outcompetes native species and damages fisheries. However, recent research has shown that the fish can be used to filter wastewater from the ceramics industry. When ground into a paste and combined with an iron-rich salt, the collagen from the fish's connective tissues works as a coagulant that removes solids and organic materials from the water. This process is less toxic than other available coagulants, making it a promising option for wastewater treatment in the ceramic tile sector. However, scaling up production of the fish paste may be limited by the availability of biomass. To read more, use the button below to open the original external article.
